Within this is two major chains, the Northern Chain (which has 8 interconnected lakes that extend across the cities of Winter Haven, Lake Alfred and Lake Hamilton) and the Southern Chain (with 16 lakes which is almost entirely located within the city limits). Both the Southern Chain and the Northern Chain are all connected by a series of beautiful canals.

Winter Haven has a wide variety of new and re-sale homes in family-friendly neighborhoods, many gated communities, condos and townhomes. Most offer swimming pools, playgrounds, sidewalks, and walking/jogging trails. For those looking to live in an active 55+ community, Winter Haven has several to choose from.

One of my favorites is Lake Ashton. This popular gated community is just six miles from downtown and has so much to offer. From social clubs, nightly entertainment in its 26,000 square foot club house to its 30,000 square foot fitness center, two private 18-hole championship golf courses and large outdoor pool, residents always have something to enjoy.
